Bill Lindsey was born
in Moundsville, West Virginia and was influenced by old
tiemountain music from the very first. Bill’s
Grandfather would sit on their front porch swing and play
his banjo while singing song after song. Bill moved to San
Diego and learned to play the trumpet and was in the High
School Band until he graduated. While in the Air Force,
Bill took up the flute and began playing Old Time Mountain
music again in the Dover Delaware area. After being
discharged from the Air Force, Bill Started playing Irish
music in the Wilmington, Delaware area jamming with other
old time players. He has played in many Pubs both in
Wilmington, Delaware and in San Diego, California.
Bill studied flute under the tutorage of Carl tucker of
Toms River, New Jersey and Bonnie Doyle of Claire County in
Ireland studying classical as well as a concentration on
Irish Airs. Bill is a member of the Brandywine Dulcimer
Fellowship in Wilmington, Delaware and jams with others
playing mostly Old Time music where he solos Irish Airs.
